Family Therapy
There are many reasons that families may seek therapy. As much as we love our family members, it can be challenging to manage all the relationships involved in a family. Families are up against many challenges that go along with modern life, including divorce, step parenting, co-parenting, multi-generational homes, military deployments, LGBTQ and other non-traditional family formats, multi-racial and inter-ethnic homes, single parenting, adoption and foster homes, increased childhood anxiety and depression, stressful jobs and post-college adults living at home. It can be extremely taxing, to say the least, to try to navigate the family conflicts that arise. Sometimes, we find ourselves at an impasse, despite our best efforts.
Family therapy allows family members to work through these challenges in a safe, neutral, accepting environment. Family therapy is useful to help facilitate conversation, identify and address unhelpful patterns, challenge roles, rules and family structure, enhance and deepen relationships and promote family healing.
Family therapists view family conflicts through a relational, systemic lens. By making small adjustments within these relationships, we can promote meaningful and lasting change within the family.
